The art of layering

06/10/2017

As most of you know, I just love necklace layering! From a subtle statement to a more powerful look, all my designs can be worn individually or layered together to create personalised looks based on your mood. So, I decided to share with you my go-to guide to mastering the art of layering.

The classic pearl choker is a great place to start. It sits just above the base of the neck, so feminine and elegant. The 18 karat yellow gold clasp gives it so much character. It’s a versatile piece of jewellery; style it with a leather jacket for an edgier look or with a formal dress if you want to have your Grace Kelly moment. Then adding a chain choker that would ideally sit an inch or two higher or lower than the pearl choker, for that unexpected touch of sparkle. And to finish off the look add a longer and larger piece, like this baroque pearl pendant which brings the whole look together.

For a more dainty look, here is my favourite layering combination, with chains in various lengths. As seen below, the Pearl Shaker Choker has adjustable length allowing you to create different looks; the sleek Pearl Lariat necklace adds an extra glimmering effect with its lustrous freshwater pearl. There is something undeniably ethereal and feminine about a series of gold chains around the neck.

My two tips to avoid tangling of the necklaces is to firstly ensure the chains have some difference in length and secondly when you take them off (yes you have to take them off before going to bed) make sure to fasten the clasps before storing.

Lastly, remember that jewellery is a personal thing, there is no right or wrong way to wear it or style it and there is no such thing as too little or too much. Jewellery is an investment and building your collection, one piece at a time, makes it even more special and meaningful.

With love,

Michelle
