My love for pearls runs deep! They’ve been at the heart of my designs from the very beginning. When I started Michelle Massoura, I knew I wanted to offer a fresh, modern way to wear pearls: effortlessly elegant, slightly unexpected, and a little more relaxed. That’s why I work with organic, free-form shapes rather than the traditional, perfectly round pearls. There’s something quietly luxurious about their uniqueness and how perfectly imperfect they are.
Every single pearl used in my pieces is hand-selected with great care. I work almost exclusively with cultured freshwater pearls, which are grown in lakes and ponds with the help of human expertise. I select each pearl based on four key factors: lustre, shape, size, and surface quality. We use only AAA-grade pearls—the highest standard on the universally recognised AAA-A scale. Of all the value markers, lustre is the most important to me. It’s that luminous, mirror-like glow that makes a pearl truly special. If you look closely at any Michelle Massoura pearl, you’ll notice the bright, sharp reflections dancing across its surface, that’s the magic of high-lustre pearls.

Because pearls are formed inside living mollusks, they are considered organic gemstones, and no two are ever quite the same. Minor surface irregularities are not flaws, they’re a beautiful reminder of each pearl’s natural origin. The majority of our designs feature baroque pearls. Baroque pearls, with their soft, asymmetrical shapes, ensure that no two pieces will ever be identical, giving each one a one-of-a-kind character that reflects the individuality of the person wearing it.
I hope you will fall in love with this stunning gift from nature as much as I have. And if you ever have any questions about our pearls or pieces, just drop an email. I’d love to hear from you.
Love,
Michelle
