During one of our appointments, a client brought me a pair of earrings she had discovered years ago in an antique shop. She was instantly drawn to their captivating blue stones and bought them on the spot. But as the years went by, she found herself wearing them less and less. Though she loved the blue-toned gems, the overall design and the way they sat on her ears just didn’t feel right.
The Before
That’s when she decided it was time to give them a new life. With complete creative freedom, my task was to reimagine the earrings while staying true to a few guiding principles: the design should feel bold, have movement, retain the essence of the original (especially the framed gem hanging just beneath the lobe), be set in white gold and of course, embody the Michelle Massoura aesthetic.
I envisioned a piece that truly celebrated her essence, her maximalist style, her love of blue and her ability to wear bold jewels and make them her own.
To achieve this, I added a pair of Swiss Blue Topaz for a striking contrast of hues and set the gemstones in my signature double bezel for maximum impact. A subtle bezel-set diamond was added as a personal touch, inspired by another pair of earrings I had once created for her and which she wears every day. To tie it all together, we set the earrings in 18K White gold, so the earrings would complement other cherished pieces in her collection.
The After – A Modern Heirloom
The result is phenomenal, just like her.
